[being thankful] a This Enchanted Pixie guest post

November is one of my all-time favorite months. I love the weather. The colors. The food. But most of all, I love it because it’s a time when we finally seem to appreciate all the wonders that we have. Family. Friends. Significant other. I’m especially thankful for each of you!
I like to share things with the people I’m thankful for, so here’s one of my beautiful November button swappers, Polly.

Hey Pocky friends :) I’m Polly and I blog over at This Enchanted Pixie. I’m excited to be here today! I know for you guys in the US, November brings about Thanksgiving, and while it’s not a holiday we celebrate in the UK, it got me thinking about being thankful.
Society tells us we can have it all, heck – it tells us we should expect to have it all. We’re bombarded constantly with adverts for all these amazing things which we simply can’t live without. We see celebrities with their riches and incredible lifestyles. We live with a constant desire for something better than what we already have. We allow ourselves to be dissatisfied with our lives as they are, longing for something better, something greater, telling ourselves, that then we’ll be happy.
It’s all too easy to lose sight of just how blessed we are. We take so much for granted, that we no longer appreciate them.
Take a moment to think of all that you have, the everyday things that you take for granted. Take a moment and be grateful. Here’s some ideas I came up with:
  • simply being alive
  • being loved
  • having a warm, safe house
  • having enough food
  • freedom
  • good friends
  • being healthy
“We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” ~Cynthia Ozick
The law of attraction says that whatever we focus on is the very thing that we attract into our life. Focus on all the good that you have in your life, and more shall come your way. Write a list every day, of what you are thankful for. In those moments when you need a reminder, read through them and realise how lucky you are.

Thanks for the reminder to be thankful for even the simplest & smallest of things, that we usually take for granted!

If you don’t know Polly, I definitely recommend checking her blog out! She is always posting beautiful things & sometimes you get lucky with pictures of her gorgeous artwork/crafty things.
